Privacy Policy

Account and forms. Your name, email address and phone number and, depending on the form, your technology stack, professional profile links, links to work you have published, your organisation and role, and any other information you choose to provide.

Job applications. When you apply for a role through SUNCHAL, including a role at SUNCHAL itself: your contact details, current location, work experience (organisations, roles and dates of employment), total experience, current and expected compensation, notice period, skills, professional profile links, your CV, and any note you include. Where you upload a CV, we read its contents to pre-fill the application form for you to review.

Verification. The work you submit for review, such as repositories, deployed applications and project descriptions, and the assessment notes recorded by our reviewers.

Job board. The roles you apply to through SUNCHAL, the dates of your applications, saved roles and any job alerts you set up.

Resume (ATS) checker. We read the text of the file you upload in order to score it. The file itself is processed in memory and is not stored. We retain only the score, its breakdown, the suggestions and the technologies detected. For anonymous checks, the file name is also redacted.

Support. The messages you exchange with our support assistant or our team and, where you ask to be contacted, the contact details you provide for that purpose.

Subscriptions. Your email address, the topics you have chosen and the delivery status of our emails to you.

Payments. Your name, email address, phone number, the amount paid and a payment reference. Card, UPI and bank details are collected and processed directly by our regulated payment partner; we do not receive or store them.

Usage and cookies. Aggregated, privacy-respecting statistics about the pages visited, which do not identify you or track you across other websites, and strictly necessary cookies that keep you signed in and keep the service secure. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers or third-party marketing pixels.

Advertising and affiliate links. SUNCHAL does not currently display third-party advertising or earn affiliate commission. Should that change, we will update this policy beforehand, seek your consent before any non-essential advertising cookie is set, and clearly label any page that contains paid or affiliate links. We will never sell your personal data, and we will never use information you share during verification, mentoring, a job application or a support conversation to target advertising at you.

• To create and administer your account and to confirm your identity.
• To conduct verification and, with your consent, to publish your verified profile.
• To assess your application for the role you applied to, and to contact you about it.
• To consider you for other suitable roles, at SUNCHAL or with organisations hiring through SUNCHAL, for the retention period set out in section 6.
• To match verified candidates with organisations that are hiring.
• To provide services you have purchased and to process payments.
• To send service communications, such as verification results, application updates, receipts and account notices. These are not marketing and are necessary to provide the service.
• To send newsletters and digests, only where you have subscribed to them. You may unsubscribe at any time.
• To keep the platform secure, to prevent fraud and misuse, and to comply with our legal obligations.
• To understand, in aggregate, how our services are used, so that we can improve them.

We process personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you submit a form or an application, create an account or subscribe, and, where applicable, for the legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act, including complying with the law and providing a service you have specifically requested.

You may withdraw your consent at any time (see section 7). Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it, and may mean that we can no longer provide some or all of the service.

We do not sell personal data.

Hiring organisations: where you apply for a role with an organisation hiring through SUNCHAL, or are a verified candidate whom we put forward with your consent, we share the relevant details of your profile or application with that organisation solely for the purpose of its hiring process, and require it to treat them as confidential.

Service providers: we engage carefully selected service providers to host our platform, store data, deliver email, process payments and operate support tools. They act only on our instructions, process personal data only to provide their services to us, and are bound by contractual obligations of confidentiality and data protection.

Legal disclosure: we may disclose personal data where required by law, by the order of a court or tribunal, or in response to a lawful request from a public authority.

Personal data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. Some of it may be processed outside India by our service providers. Any such transfer is made in accordance with the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Government of India, and is protected by appropriate contractual and technical safeguards.

We retain personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy:

• Account and profile data: for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
• Job applications and CVs: for up to 24 months from your most recent application, so that we may consider you for other suitable roles. You may ask us to delete your application sooner at any time.
• Support conversations: for approximately 90 days after the conversation is closed.
• Security and system logs: for a limited period, as needed to secure the service and to investigate incidents.
• Payment records: for the period required by tax and accounting law, including after an account is deleted.
• Files uploaded to the resume checker: not retained (see section 1).

When personal data is no longer required, we delete it or anonymise it so that it can no longer identify you.

Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

• Access: obtain a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed.
• Correction and completion: have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected, completed or updated.
• Erasure: request deletion of your personal data, except where we are required by law to retain it.
• Withdraw consent: at any time, including by unsubscribing from emails through the link in every marketing email.
• Nomination: nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
• Grievance redressal: raise a grievance with us (see section 10) and, if you are not satisfied with our response, approach the Data Protection Board of India.

To exercise any of these rights, write to support@sunchal.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and will respond within the time required by law.

We implement reasonable technical and organisational security measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure and loss, including encryption in transit, restricted and role-based access, and monitoring of changes to sensitive records.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify affected individuals and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.

Our services are not intended for persons under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

We will acknowledge your grievance and endeavour to resolve it within the period prescribed by law. If you remain dissatisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.

We may revise this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or in the law. Material changes will be notified by email or by a prominent notice on the website, and the “Last updated” date above will change.
